Schindler, Nancy Ann (nee Gibbar)

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Nancy Schindler, 55, of Perryville died Friday, April 15, 2005, in Perryville.

She was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Perry County, Mo., daughter of Everett and Viola Kirn Gibbar. She and Wayne Schindler were married July 22, 1978.

Schindler was a 1968 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School. She was named National WAC of the year in 1969, this being the first time this honor was bestowed to a woman in the U.S. Army. She was a founding member of Women's Exchange and Parent to Parent.

She served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jordan Stevens of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; her mother of Perryville; a sister, Mary Gibbar of Perryville; two brothers, Scott and Toby Gibbar of Perryville.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 23rd, 2005 for 55-year-old Nancy Gibbar Schindler of Perryville who died Friday, April 15th in Perryville.

She was born January 11th, 1950 in Perry County, the daughter of the late Everett Gibbar and Viola (Kirn) Gibbar, who survives in Perryville.

She married Wayne Schindler on July 22nd, 1978. He survives.

Survivors also include: a daughter and son in law, Jordan and Jeremy Stevens of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Mary Jane Gibbar; and two brothers, Scott J. Gibbar and Toby Gibbar, all of Perryville.

She was a domestic engineer.

She graduated from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic High School in 1968. She was named the National WAC (Women's Army Corps) of the Year 1969, the first time this honor was bestowed on any woman in the U.S. Army. She was a founding member of Women's Exchange and Parent to Parent.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A memorial service for Nancy Gibbar Schindler of Perryville will be held at noon Saturday, April 23rd at the Young and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Perryville.

Memorials are preferred to the Southeast Hospice or the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
