Schmidt, Marvin M. "Pepper"

A funeral will be held Thursday, July 3rd, 2003 for 75-year-old Marvin M. "Pepper" Schmidt of Altenburg, who died Monday, June 30th at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born December 17th, 1927 in Altenburg, the son of Emmanuel J. and Maria S. (Buck) Schmidt who both preceded him in death.

He married Doris Luehrs on April 21st, 1951. She survives in Altenburg.

He is also survived by three sons and daughters in law: Richard and Karen Schmidt of Farrar, Kenneth and Carol Schmidt of Jackson and Bruce and Connie Schmidt of Jackson.

Survivors also include three daughters and sons in law: Linda and Ronald Wiggins of Pocahontas, Kathleen and Richard Leimbach of Pocahontas and Karen and Dennis Meisner of Farrar.

Two sisters survive: Blanda Schweig of Belleville, Illinois and Elvira Butler of Florissant.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren.

Two brothers also preceded him in death.

He was a retired maintenance man at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and custodian for 36 years in Altenburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2nd and 6:30-8 a.m. Thursday, July 3rd at the Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.

A funeral for 75-year-old Marvin M. "Pepper" Schmidt of Altenburg will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3rd at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ronald Paseur will officiate. Military graveside service provided by the American Legion Post No. 133.

Memorials may be made to the Saxony Lutheran High School or to the Lutheran Laymen's League.
