Schmidt, Oscar J.
FROHNA, Mo. -- Oscar J. Schmidt, 94, of Frohna died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg, Mo.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A funeral will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 for 94-year-old Oscar J. Schmidt of Frohna who died July 4, 2013 at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.
He was born September 1, 1918 in Frohna, the son of Gotthilf H. and Christina M. (Elmshaeuser) Schmidt who both preceded him in death.
He married Helen Marie Lichtenegger November 12, 1950. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2013.
He is survived by three sons and a daughter: Roger (Gail) Schmidt of Belleville, Illinois, Charles (Jill) Schmidt and Paul (Nancy) Schmidt, all of Frohna, and Mary (Curtis) Kassel of Farrar; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Wilson and Ervin Schmidt; and two sisters: Irma Stortz and Nora Schick.
He was a farmer of grain and cattle.
He had been a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Usher, Building Committee, School Board member, Trustee, Elder, Braille worker and member of East Perry Fair Committee.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 7 and 6:30-8:15 a.m. Monday, July 8 at Young & Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.
A funeral for 94-year-old Oscar J. Schmidt of Frohna will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8 at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna. The Rev. Rod Benkendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to KFUO or Concordia Lutheran Church.
