Schreiner, Patricia J. (nee Clippard)

Patricia J. Schreiner, 71, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, where she was admitted Tuesday, Aug. 31.

She was born July 15, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Curtis and Corrine Kaufmann Clippard. She and Don Schreiner were married June 16, 1957, in Jackson.

Pat graduated from Jackson High School in 1957. She was a legal secretary more than 40 years, retiring from Missouri State Public Defender's Office of Cape Girardeau County in 1998 after 22 years with that organization.

She was a member of Missouri Association of Legal Secretaries and was the MALS Secretary of the Year in 1983, 1986 and 1995. She was a member of Cape Girardeau, Mississippi and Scott Counties Legal Secretaries Association, and was awarded Secretary of the Year in 1977. She was the recipient of numerous plaques of recognition from the Missouri Public Defenders System.

Schreiner was very active in fundraising events for the Cape Shriners Club, including the annual poker run and Christmas party for the Shriners patients. She was past member of Jackson Order of Eastern Star Chapter 91, and was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, serving in several capacities within the church organizations over the years.

Loving survivors include her husband of 53 years; a son, Scott (Elisa) Schreiner of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Julie Phillips of Fenton, Mo.; a brother, Percy Clippard of Dexter, Mo.; a sister, Pansy Howell of Franklin, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, Chris Schreiner, Jeremy Schreiner, Michelle Spencer, Abbie Phillips and Grace Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rice officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital, the American Cancer Society or to New McKendree United Methodist Church.
