Schroeder, Dicky Lee "Dick"

Dicky Lee “Dick” Schroeder, 63, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at his home.

He was born December 26, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of Gilbert C. and Marjorie “Lucille” Sides Schroeder.

Dick attended Jackson High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 8, 1967. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1970. He worked for the former International Shoe Company in Jackson, Florsheim Shoe and Erlbacher Machine Works in Cape Girardeau, and at the U.S. Post Office in Jackson. Dick was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post #158 in Jackson, and the VFW in Cape Girardeau. Loving survivors include two children, Jennifer “Jenny” (Brad) Thele and their children, Jessie, Justin, and Triston of Jackson, James (Lori) Schroeder and her son, Devin Niswonger of Jackson; a brother, Charles G. (Joyce) Schroeder of Jackson; two nephews, Chuck (Karen) Schroeder of Cape Girardeau, and Bobby Schroeder of Jackson; friend and former wife, Dorothy Schroeder of Jackson; and his horses, E.J. and Dozer. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Jordan Lee Thele and Skyler J. Schroeder; a brother, Richard, a sister, Marjorie Ann, and an infant brother, Jimmie Ray.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 12, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 6:00 PM.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
