Schumer, Leroy F.
PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Leroy F. Schumer, 82, of Perryville died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 22, 1926, at Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Edward F. and Clara C. Schlattman Schumer. He and Edna Mae Gillian were married. She died June 19, 1999. He and Shirley Boxdorfer were married Oct. 22, 1982.
Schumer was a retired printer for Gilster-Mary Lee. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 133 and the Merchant Marines. Schumer was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of Perryville; four sons, John Schumer, Edward Schumer, both of St. Charles, James Schumer of Perryville, Leroy F. Schumer of Ringold, Ga.; a daughter, Patricia Schumer of Ringold; a stepdaughter, Robin R. Parmer of Perryville; a stepson, Jeffrey L. Gerlach of Ballwin, Mo.; a brother, Charles Schumer of Cuba, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Farishon of Hazelwood, Mo., Lucille Sego of Cuba; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, a son, a stepson, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Chapel.
Funeral will follow at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Christopher Cole officiating.
There will be a private burial for family.
