Seabaugh, Della Augusta (nee Sievers)

Della Augusta Seabaugh, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born June 12, 1914, in Jackson, daughter of Charles and Emma Rust Sievers. She and Otto Seabaugh were married June 24, 1967, in Monroe, N.C. He died Jan. 2, 2004.

Mrs. Seabaugh was a graduate of Jackson High School, Southeast Missouri State University, and received a master of arts degree from Iowa State University in 1942. She was elected to Pi Lambda Theta National Education Society and continued as a life member.

She was a primary school teacher, having taught 43 years in Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin and Connecticut. She was a volunteer aide with the Red Cross during and following World War II.

Mrs. Seabaugh was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, its Women's Fellowship, and Southeast Missouri State University Foundation Horizon Club.

She and her husband endowed scholarships to the education department and polytechnic institute which bears their names. The Seabaughs were chosen as Friends of the University in 1997.

Survivors include two nephews, Charles Sievers of Greensboro, N.C., Marion Sievers of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-nephews; and two great-nieces.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer, pastor of Emanuel United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

Memorials may be made to Emanuel United Church of Christ.
