Seabaugh, Elizabeth Francis (nee Schmuke)

Elizabeth Francis "Betty" Seabaugh, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sunday, Oct. 8, 1922, in Jackson, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Francis Hunter Schmuke. She and Dr. L.R. Seabaugh were married June 17, 1944, in Jackson. He preceded her in death December 1986.

She was a member of the Saint Francis Medical Center Auxiliary and Doctors Medical Auxiliary. Seabaugh was a former board member of the 1st Exchange Bank Corp. She was an avid bridge player and a member of several clubs.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Seabaugh of Schaumburg, Ill., Scot Seabaugh and wife Rene of Webster Groves, Mo.; three daughters, Susan Heuiser and husband Ben of Hudson, Ill., Sally Veach and husband Craig of Springfield, Ill., Sarah Schermann and husband Paul of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Mary Hunter Schmuke of Cape Girardeau, Agnus O'Loughlin of Jackson, Joann Hill of Roswell, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Schmuke Jr.; three sisters, Katherine "Puddy" Statler, Laura Lewis and Martha Penzel.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Service will be held at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Monday with the Revs. Paul Short and Mark Martin officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
