Seabaugh, Joseph "Joe" A.

Joseph A. "Joe" Seabaugh, 90, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 18, 1920, at Daisy, son of Benjamin F. and Minnie A. Cobble Seabaugh. He and Imogene Gallup were married Aug. 12, 1951, in St. Albans, N.Y.

Seabaugh graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1937. He attended Southeast Missouri State College, and received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from St. Louis University in 1948.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, serving honorably from Jan. 28, 1942, to Nov. 11, 1945, and from May 19, 1951, to Sept. 8, 1952.

After his military service Joe and Imogene moved to St. Louis where he worked for the Postal Data Center, retiring in 1973. In 1974 they moved to Jackson.

Joe was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Imogene of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Prudence King in 1984; and a niece.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to Missouri Veterans Home.
