Seabaugh, Norman R.

Norman R. Seabaugh, age 87, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at his home. He was born May 31, 1918, in Daisy, Mo., son of Willis E. and Sophia Barks Seabaugh. He and Louella Nell Proffer were married Oct. 2, 1965. They enjoyed 28 years of marriage prior to her death Nov. 2, 1993.

Norman was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and Southeast Missouri State University. Upon completion of his education, he briefly taught school at the former Limbaugh School in Sedgewickville and the former Arnsberg School in Friedheim. In 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii, and serving in both the American and Asiatic-Pacific theaters. He was honorably discharged Feb. 12, 1946.

After returning to Sedgewickville, Norman began farming. He moved to Jackson in 1994 and was able to farm until his death.

He was a lifelong member of Sedgewickville Lutheran Church, a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, the VFW in Jackson, and enjoyed volunteering at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Buford and Imogene Seabaugh and Lloyd and Clara Seabaugh, all of Jackson; three nephews, John H. Seabaugh of St. Louis, David E. Seabaugh of Chicago and Randy S. Seabaugh of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by a niece, Ramona McGraw.

Friends may call Sunday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Albert Nyland officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery with full military honors. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Sedgewickville Lutheran Church or Cemetery.
