Seabaugh, Raymond Ray

Raymond R. Seabaugh, 92, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 19, 1922, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, to Aaron and Bertha E. Seabaugh Seabaugh. He and Vanita Werner were married Aug. 9, 1942, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. They lived in Jackson all their married life, but most recently, Raymond resided at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. They had been married nearly 71 years when Vanita passed away May 17, 2013.

Raymond was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, serving honorably from Dec. 23, 1942, to Oct. 19, 1945. He was a skilled plumber and pipe fitter, working for various local contractors through Plumbers and Pipefitters 562 in St. Louis.

He was a member of Altenthal Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, the former Hilltoppers Square Dance Club, St. Paul Lutheran Church, it's Men's Club and former dartball league.

Loving survivors include four children, Paul (Roxie) Seabaugh of Jackson, Ron (Phyllis) Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Jim (Susan) Seabaugh of Jackson and Martha (Mike) Riehn of Millersville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Brotherton of Jackson; and a brother-in-law, Vernon (LaWanda) Werner of Jackson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. At 6 p.m., there will be an American Legion Honor Guard service. Friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. to service time Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation.
