Dr. William O.L. Seabaugh, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at his home.

He was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, son of Dr. Oda Lavinia and Anna Mary Smith Seabaugh. He and Patricia Fisher were married Dec. 27, 1942, in Cape Girardeau.

Dr. Seabaugh was a 1938 graduate of Central High School, and graduate of Kemper College, University of Missouri, Missouri University School of Medicine, and Washington University Medical School.

He served in the U.S. Medical Air Corps in Orlando, Fla., until Sept. 2, 1949.

Dr. Seabaugh completed his surgical residency at St. Louis City Hospital and began his general practice in Cape Girardeau. He operated Seabaugh Clinic at 24 N. Sprigg from 1951 to 1991. He also operated a clinic in Chaffee, Mo., developed and built Cape LaCroix Nursing Home, leased and administered Chaffee Hospital from 1965-1990. He served as a physician for Southeast Missouri State University and Marquette Manufacturing Co.

He was known for his love of medicine, horses and opera. He bred and raised saddle horses and later thoroughbreds on his Cape LaCroix Farm on Route W. He raced his thoroughbreds from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Dr. Seabaugh was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Lions Club, St. Mark's Masonic Lodge, and Moolah Shrine Temple in St. Louis.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" and Ann Seabaugh of Webster Groves, Mo., a son, Michael O.L. Seabaugh of Santa Barbara, Calif.; a daughter, Dr. Jan Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, a daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Richard Montgomery of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Knehans of Warrensburg, Mo.; six grandchildren, Henley Montgomery, Will Montgomery, Julianna Montgomery, Austin Critchlow, Kate Seabaugh and Taylor Seabaugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Annabel Watkins, who died Dec. 7, 1994.

Friends may call at Centenary United Methodist Church Monday from 1-3 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park. Graveside services will be private.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Henley Montgomery, Will Montgomery, Julianna Montgomery, Austin Critchlow, Kate Seabaugh and Taylor Seabaugh.

Honorary pallbearers will be A.F. Lindsay, Joel Montgomery, Richard Montgomery, Bill Van Pelt, Richard Fisher, Al Spradling, Roger Durling and John Peek.

Memorial contributions may be made to Southeast Hospice, Centenary United Methodist Memorial Fund, or the American Cancer Society.
