Searcey, Stephen Linder

Searcy, Stephen Linder Stephen L. Searcey died Thursday night at 9:30 at a hospital here where he had been moved shortly before from the family home at 628 South Sprigg.  He was 79 years old.

Final rites will be conducted Saturday at 2 at the Haman Funeral Home by the Rev. H. H. Murdick of the Methodist Church at Whitewater, of which he was a member.   Interment will be in the cemetery at Whitewater.

Mr. Searcey is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Searcey; one daughter, Mrs. Wilson Blumenberg of Cape; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Three sons, five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

Born March 8, 1881 near Jackson, he and Emma M. Bierschwal were married Aug. 21, 1904.   From 1903 to 1932, he was employed by the milling company at Whitewater and for a time was head flour miller.  He later owned and operated a grocery store at Whitewter for 16 years, retiring in 1947.  Mr. and Mrs. Searcey moved to Cape 10 years ago.
