Sebaugh, Delos

Delos Sebaugh, age 102, of Glasgow, Ky., formerly of Daisy, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He had resided with his daughter for the past three years in Park City, Ky.

He was born Sept. 18, 1908, in Sedgewickville, Mo., son of Vivian and Sarah Propst Sebaugh. He and Elva Friese were married June 2, 1935; she passed away May 31, 1985. On June 21, 1987, he married Ruby Isley Sebaugh; she passed away Feb. 4, 2001.

Delos and his family moved to the Daisy community in 1910, where he has spent most of his life. He was a 1927 graduate of Jackson High School and attended the former Anthony Wayne Business College in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1931.

Delos was a lifelong member of Sargents Chapel Lutheran Church. He served on the Sargents Chapel Cemetery Association from 1976 to 2000. He has been a member of the Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge of Oak Ridge since 1950 and served as secretary from 1959 to 1995. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite member and a past president of the 49th Masonic District of Missouri.

Delos owned and operated a general store in Daisy for 17 years from 1939 to 1956. He also served as secretary-manager of the Citizens Mutual Insurance Co. for 41 years, from 1932 to 1973. He also was active in the Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, having served as president in 1966. He served on the local school board and was a member of the first Cape Girardeau County school reorganizational board. From 1958 to 1981, he served on the Cape Girardeau County Red Cross Board.

Loving survivors include one son, Perry (Margaret Ann) Sebaugh, of Park City; two daughters, Marge (Loyd Don) Green of Park City and Delores (Robert) Eisenhauer of Daisy; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; five stepchildren, Rosemary (Irving) Berry of Jackson, Edward (Joan) Sebaugh of Sedgewickville, Wanda (Terry) Hale of Austin, Texas, Sylvia (Paul) Sanders of Belleville, Ill., Diana (Ed) Brunke of Jackson; 13 stepgrandchildren; and 12 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Sebaugh.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Sargents Chapel near Daisy.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Jerry Bailey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sargents Chapel Cemetery.
