Short, Mozella (nee Cobble)

Mozella C. Short, 93, of Jackson died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 31, 1913, at Daisy, daughter of Tony Sappington and Arlie Roberts Cobble. She and Willis Les Short were married Oct. 28, 1933. He died Feb. 23, 2001.

Mrs. Short was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She had worked for the Missouri State Welfare Department in Cape Girardeau and St. Louis, State Parole Board in St. Louis, and was an assistant recruiting officer with the U.S. Government for Rocket and Missile Engineers in St. Louis. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, Robert "Chuck" (Nancy) Short of Kitty Hawk, N.C., John Short of Jackson; two granddaughters, Debra Myren of McLean, Va., Julie Conrad of Indialantic, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren, Christy, Jeff, Adam, Kara, Jennifer and Kyle.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyndon G. Cobble, and a sister, Mildred Niswonger.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joel Hebert officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
