Shrum, Fred H.

Funeral services for the Rev. Fred Shrum of Sedgewickville was conducted at 2 p.m., Feb 22, 1997 at Crossroads Methodist Church by the Rev. Michael Davis and the Rev. Howard Miller. Burial was in the church cemetery with arrangements handled by Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

Mr. Shrum, 88, died Feb. 19, 1997 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. He was born Aug 19, 1908 in Perry County, a son of James M. and Rosa B. Meyer Shrum. On Nov. 24, 1934, he was married to Emma Lukefahr, who survives.

He attended Perryville High School and Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, and completed studies at Perkins School of Theology in Dallas. Prior to becoming a United Methodist minister, he taught in rural schools in Perry and Bollinger Counties.

The Rev. Mr. Shrum was a member of the Crossroads Methodist Church and Retired Methodist Ministers Association.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Corine Daughterty of Marble Hill; one sister, Lilly Blaylock of Perryville; a granddaughter, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.
