Slattery, Doris Ann (nee Abernathy)

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Doris Ann Slattery, 67, of Perryville died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at her home.

She was born Dec. 13, 1934, at Longtown, Mo., daughter of John Milton and Violet Mae Graves Abernathy.

Slattery retired as a technician from TG Missouri. She was a 1952 graduate of Perryville High School.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, past district president of Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and was instrumental in developing Cape Girardeau Girls Softball League.

Survivors include five sons, Larry Slattery of O'Fallon, Mo., Terry Slattery of Cape Girardeau, Jerry Slattery of Grand Ledge, Mich., Timothy Slattery of Casey, Ill., John Slattery of Jackson; a daughter, Sharon Meyer of Perryville; a sister, Winnie Frentzel of Perryville; a brother, John Abernathy of Jackson; and 17 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. The parish wake will be at 6 p.m. Friday, and the rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be at noon Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate. Burial will be in York Chapel Methodist Cemetery at Longtown.

A funeral will be held Saturday, November 2nd, 2002 for 67-year-old Doris Ann Slattery of Perryville who died Sunday, October 27th at her home.

She was born December 13, 1934 in Longtown, the daughter of John Milton and Violet Mae (Graves) Abernathy, who both preceded her in death.

She is survived by five sons and daughters in law: Larry and Mary Ann Slattery of O'Fallon; Terry and Annette Slattery of Cape Girardeau; Jerry and Lori Slattery of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Timothy and Dana Slattery of Casey, Illinois; and John and Kelly Slattery of Jackson.

She is also survived by a daughter and son in law: Sharon and Richard Meyer of Perryville.

She is also survived by a sister and brother in law, Winnie and Byrd Frentzel of Perryville and a brother and sister in law, John and Vicki Abernathy of Jackson.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Abernathy.

She was a retired technician from TG Missouri.

She was a 1952 graduate of Perryville High School, a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, Past District President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau and was instrumental in developing the Cape Girardeau Girls Softball League.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 1st and 6:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2nd at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish wake will be at 6 p.m. Friday and rosary at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
