Slinkard, Donald Ray
Donald R. Slinkard, 73, of Whitewater passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 14, 1940, in Jackson to Boyd Loren "Dick" and Hattie Fern Allen Slinkard. He and Carol Marie Picou were married Nov. 12, 1966, in St. Mary, Mo.
Donald served in the United States Army.
He worked at Whitewater Co-op and was an avid bowler, fisherman and hunter. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 47 years, Carol Slinkard; three sons, Jeff Slinkard and Mark (Julie) Slinkard of Whitewater and Chris (Amy) Slinkard of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Richard Slinkard of Whitewater; five grandchildren, Amanda, Ashleigh, Andrea, Ryan and Makenzie Slinkard; as well as many friends, especially his bowling buddies.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be in Whitewater Methodist Cemetery, with full military honors presented by Missouri Honor Guard.
