Slinkard, Marvin F.

Marvin F. Slinkard, 95, of Jackson died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at his home.

He was born July 4, 1913, in Cape Girardeau County, son of William Madison and Louella Randol Slinkard. He and Mariam Conley were married July 17, 1935, in Cape Girardeau.

Slinkard was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, where he was very active. He was a charter member of its Men's Club and had served on its board of trustees.

He was a lifetime resident of Cape Girardeau County. He had been a salesman with Pennsylvania, Dayton, Worldwide and Bandag Tire companies 50 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Slinkard and wife Charlotte of Cape Girardeau, Russ Slinkard and wife Stella of Joliet, Ill.; two daughters, Robyn Morton and husband Lynn, and Janis Ticer and husband Lewis, all of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Don Slinkard in 1986; and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may be made to Maple United Methodist Church Building Fund.
