Slinkard, Vickie Sue Edmonds (nee Ward)
Vickie Sue Slinkard, 67, of Oriole passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at the home of her son, James Edmonds, near Gravel Hill, Missouri.
She was born Feb. 17, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Arch and Opal M. Sledge Ward.
She and Gene Raymond Slinkard were married June 1, 1971, in Hernando, Mississippi. He passed away Nov. 9, 1995.
Vickie had worked as a researcher at the Trail of Tears Nature Center in Cape Girardeau. She enjoyed surfing the Internet and spending time with all her grandchildren.
Loving survivors include three sons, James (Darla) Edmonds of Gravel Hill, Boyd (Sherry) Edmonds of Oriole and Jon (Becky) Edmonds of Crump; a daughter, Sharon (David) Strop of Killdeer, North Dakota; a brother, Toby (Marilyn) Ward of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Ward.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery near Millersville, with the Rev. Jeremy Clayton officiating.
