Slinkard, William T.

William T. Slinkard, 89, of Scott City died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 22, 1915, at Arbor, son of James William and Betty Coomer Slinkard. He and Elizabeth Sophronia Schlosser were married Nov. 11, 1939, at Oran, Mo. She died Nov. 13, 1997.

Mr. Slinkard was a conductor with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of United Transportation Union and Brick Masons Union.

Survivors include three sons, W.J. Slinkard of New Iberia, La., Ronald Slinkard of St. Louis, Troy Slinkard of The Woodlands, Texas; a daughter, Martha Ann Eifert of Scott City; two brothers, Jake Slinkard of Kansas City, Mo., Ernst Slinkard of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Ruby Brown of Jackson, Betty Nesbit of Chillicothe, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kevin Runnels, Laurie Ann Glastetter, Ty Slinkard, Andrea Hernandez, Scott Slinkard and Michelle Crosnoe; four great-grandchildren, Jamie Ann Glastetter, Theran Slinkard, Drew Slinkard and Cody Hernandez.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Slinkard, July 11, 2003; four brothers, Herb, Hubert, Gene and Virgil Slinkard; and two sisters, Marie Slinkard and Chick Kilbreath.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Watis Harrell and Mark Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roger Slinkard, David Slinkard, Dennis Slinkard, Bub Slinkard, Donald Slinkard and Paul David Slinkard.
