Smith, Minnie (nee Scheper)
JACKSON - Mrs. Minnie Smith, wife of Joe W. Smith, Jackson, died at a Cape
Girardeau hospital late Wednesday afternoon where she had been admitted early that
morning. She was 73 years old.
Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 3, 1892 at Laflin, the daughter of F.W. and Mary E. Scheper. She
grew up in Laflin and attended school in Lutesville, moving here in 1906.
She was married to Mr. Smith in 1923 at Grand Junction, Colo.
Surviving besides her husband are one son, W.G. Niblack, Grand Junction; a daughter, Mrs.
Golda E. Trammell, Mountain Grove; two brothers, Clarence Scheper, Jackson, and Harry
Scheper, Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Mrs. Elvin (Hattie) Headrick, Jackson, and Mrs.
Charles (Ruby) Stone, Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of New McKendree Methodist Church, and a member of the
Belle Bennett Circle and was active in the W.S.C.S.
The body is at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2. The Rev. C.E. Yoss of Rolla will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John L.
Glassey. Burial is to be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
