Smith, Verna G. (nee Roper)
A funeral will be held Thursday, March 23rd for 93-year-old Verna G. Coffman Smith who died today, March 21st, at the Perry County Nursing Home.
She was born November 8th, 1906 in Ste. Genevieve County, the daughter of Edward Leon Roper and Ella Kennon Roper who preceded in death.
She married Ralph Coffman on November 8th, 1942 in St. Mary. He preceded in death.
She married Hubert Smith on December 4th, 1949. He preceded in death.
She is survived by two sons: Thomas N. Coffman and Eugene Coffman, both of St. Mary and one daughter: Helen, Mrs. Bert Brewer of St. Mary.
14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive her.
Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
She was a licensed practical nurse and worked at Perry County Memorial Hospital for 25 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Perryville, Order of the Eastern Star at St. Mary Chapter 338 and was a Past Worthy Matron.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 22nd and 6:30-noon Thursday, March 23rd at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.
An Eastern Star Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22nd at the funeral home.
Visitation will also be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 23rd at the Minnith Baptist Church.
A funeral for 93-year-old Verna G. Coffman Smith will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 23rd at the Minnith Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Minnith Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Brewer will officiate.
