Statler, Charles William

Charles W. "Jack" Statler, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, son of Tivis Edward and Bessie Banks Statler, and was raised in Oran, Mo. He and Vicki Smith were married June 1, 1957, in Jackson.

Three sons were born of that marriage: Darby Statler, Mark Statler and Charles Statler Jr.

He was of the Baptist belief. He was owner of Statler Masonry until retirement.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Darby Statler of Cape Girardeau, Mark (Carla) Statler of Patton, Mo.; a sister, Geri Reiminger of Cape Girardeau; a half sister, Hazel Ford of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Stan Richardson of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Dylan Statler of Patton; two step-grandchildren, Jacob and Jed Cook of Patton.

He was preceded in death by son, Charles Statler Jr.; his parents; a sister, Pauline Albino; a brother, Robert Statler; and several half brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Graveside rites will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorials may be made to Teen Challenge International Mid-America.
