MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -
David R. Statler, 86, or Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at City Hospital.

Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Washington County, he was the son of the late J. Oscar and Lucetta Seylar Statler.

He retired from Corning Glass after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church.

He was a member of Charles Town (W.Va.) Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Althea O. Statler; one daughter, Linda Statler of Martinsburg; one son, Gary R. Statler of Tomahawk, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Peters; three sisters, Rhetta Herman, Gail Swisher and Helen Hafer; two brothers, Wilson Statler and Leroy Statler; and one granddaughter.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.   The Rev. Curtis Wheeler will officiate.  Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
