Statler, Edwin F.

STATLER – Edwin F., 86, Upper Yoder Township, died March 17, 2007, at Laurelwood Care Center. Born July 7, 1920, in Johnstown, son of the late Frank and Minnie (Nurnberger) Statler.

Also preceded in death by his wife, the former Janet E. Wolf, and brother, Charles Statler.

Survived by his daughter, Anne, married to Steven Changaris, Grafton, Mass; two grandchildren, Emily and Tyler; and brother, Howard Statler, Rochester, N.Y.

Edwin graduated from Johnstown High School and Penn State, with a degree in electrical engineering, and was a registered professional engineer. He was a WWII Army veteran, and worked for 37 years at Penelec, retiring as a telecommunications supervisor. He also was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he taught adult Sunday school classes and sang in the choir. Edwin had a strong environmental ethic and maintained memberships in the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing, biking and golfing, and spending time in his workshop making furniture.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., West Hills, 921 Menoher Blvd. Service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 600 Ash St., Johnstown, the Rev. Brian Arman officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn.
