Funeral rites for Glen S. Statler of Ste. Genevieve, formerly of Sedgewickville, were held at the Sedgewickville United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., Aug 1, 1996. The Rev. Michael Davis officiated, and burial was in the Sedgewickville cemetery. McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Statler, 86, died July 29, 1996 at the Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1910 in Sedgewickville, a son of Adolph and Ida Seabaugh Statler. On Dec. 20, 1939, he was married to Frances Hudson, who survives.

He was a lifelong member of the Sedgewickville United Methodist Church. During World War II, he was employed by Kaiser Shipyards in California. He engaged in farming in the Sedgewickville community most of his lifetime. Mr. Statler returned from California in 1945, and resumed farming and was also employed as a carpenter by Elmer Proctor Construction Company for a number of years. He retired in 1965. The Statlers moved to Ste. Genevieve in September of 1995.

Surviving, besides his wife, are two brothers, Verlin Statler of St. Charles, and Merlin Statler of Burfordville; and a sister, Hazel Seabaugh of Jackson. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
