Statler, M. Dice
Funeral services for M. Dice Statler, 77, of Luther Ridge, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday
in Salem Lutheran Church, Marion.
He died Sunday, Nov. 16, 1997 in Luther Ridge after a lengthy illness.
Born July 19, 1920 in Guilford Township, he was the son of the late John M. and O. Ruth
Dice Statler.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher,
council member and supervisor of the church cemetery.
He was a member of George Washington Lodge 143 F&AM, Junior OUAM, was a former
director of the F&M Trust Co. and the Maryland Milk Producers, and served on the Holly
Milk Board.
Engaged in dairy farming all his life, he received a Master Farmer Award in 1972 and
later received the National Soil Conservation Award.
He founded and was past president of Chambersburg Farm Service, was active in Franklin
County Extension, and was a member of the Guilford Township School Authority.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Keefer Statler; a daughter, Susan Riley of Newtown
Square; a brother, Ronald K. of Chambersburg; and three grandchildren.
The Rev. Warren Heintzelman will officiate at Saturday's services. Burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297
Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg.
