Stevens, Asa Jefferson
Marble Hill - Asier J. Stevens, 85 years old, died at his home near Scopus at 10:30 Sunday night. He was a retired blacksmith and carpenter of this community.
Mr. Stevens, born Jan 26, 1872, in Bollinger County, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Stevens of the Scopus Community. He was married to Sarah Jane Matthews, who preceded him in death several years ago. Five children also preceded him in death.
Surviving are five sons; Thomas and Andy Stevens of Marble Hill, George Stevens of Jackson, Asier Stevens of Scopus and Charles Stevens of Chatworth, Ill.; one brother, Wesley Stevens of Courtland, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Rhadi Mungle of Jackson and Mrs. E.N. Barks of Marble Hill; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Th body is at the Ward Funeral Home in Lutesville. Services will be held at Hickory Grove Pentecostal Church, with burial at Cook Cemetery.
