Stovall, Gladys B. (nee Morris)

Gladys B. Stovall, 92, of Whitewater passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Whiteside, Mo., daughter of James Edward and Winnie Ferguson Morris. She and Robert Lee Stovall were married May 2, 1936, in Bowling Green, Mo. He passed away April 18, 2008.

Gladys was raised in Whiteside. After she and Robert were married, they settled in St. Louis where she worked at Kmart. They moved to the Crump community when Robert retired in 1978. She was a charter member of Lake Girardeau Assembly of God Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent, and held various other offices.

Loving survivors include four sons, Robert C. (Jo Ann) Stovall of Chaffee, Mo., Harry (Donna) Stovall of Hannibal, Mo., Ronald (Tina) Stovall of Melbourne, Ark., and Dale (Dawn) Stovall of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; three daughters, Mary Craft of Whitewater, Glenda (David) Gregory of Crump and Ruth (Chuck) Baker of Weldon Springs, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James L. Stovall; a daughter, Barbara Stovall; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother; and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Claunch officiating, assisted by two of Gladys' grandsons, Robert L. Stovall and Matthew Craft. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Lake Girardeau Assembly of God Church or the church or charity of choice.
