Strong, Gladys Lee (nee Friese)

Gladys L. Strong, 72, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 3, 1932, at Friedheim, daughter of H.F. and Lorene Klaus Friese. She and Juel L.V. "Pete" Strong were married Oct. 17, 1954.

Gladys was a 1950 graduate of Perryville High School. She worked many years at the former Lohman's Shoe Store and the former Albert Sander True Value Hardware Store in Jackson. Gladys was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson since 1960, and was an avid league bowler.

Loving survivors include her husband; a sister, Ruth Moneyhun and her friend Randy Fronabarger of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Betty Friese of Friedheim; three nephews, Ken Friese of Friedheim, Mark Friese of Jackson, Alan Moneyhun of Jackson; six great-nephews; and a great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Nelson Friese.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund at Friedheim.
