Strong, Mary Jane (nee Stevens)

LUTESVILLE WOMAN SUCCUMBS TO SUDDEN HEART ATTACK

Lutesville, Oct. 7 - Mrs. Wm. Strong, 71 years old, died at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday night at her home here of heart disease, being ill only since noon yesterday.

Mrs. Strong was born and reared at Scopus, her name being Mary Jane Stevens. She was married first to John Brown, who died in 1921. She and Mr. Strong, who survives, were married in 1929.

Five children survive from the first marriage and they are Delon Brown and Mrs. Will Lincoln of Scopus, Mrs. Will Barks of Scopus, Mrs. John Mayfield of Mayfield and Mrs. Namon Welker of Hurricane.

Surviving also are 28 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Brown of Scopus and Mrs. Lizzie Burton of near Marble Hill, and two brothers, Pink Stevens of Marble Hill and Asa Stevens of Scopus.

The body was taken from the Baker funeral establishment today to the family home and funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church, near Scopus, with burial to be at the Mt. Zion cemetery. Rev. M.A. Garrison, Methodist minister here is to be in charge.
