Taylor, Elmer F., Sr.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, March 1st, 2006 for 81-year-old Elmer F. Taylor Sr. of Perryville who died Saturday, February 25th at his home.

He was born August 28th, 1924 in Silver Lake, the son of Henry Joseph and Mary Matilda (Hennecke) Taylor, who both preceded him in death.

He married Mary Ann McDowell on September 25th, 1945. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Ronald D. and Elaine Taylor of Zephyrhills, Florida and Duane D. Taylor of Waco, Texas; a brother, Thomas J. Taylor of Farmington; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Elmer F. Taylor Jr., a sister, Rita A. Zahner and a sister in law, Jane Taylor.

He retired after working 22 years at Sabreliner as a mechanic.

He was a U.S. Army paratrooper in World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.

He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, VFW Post No. 4282, American Legion Post No. 133.

Visitation will be 4-8:30 p.m. this (Tuesday, February 28th) afternoon and evening and 6:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1st at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A VFW wake will be held this (Tuesday) evening at 7 p.m., followed by a Catholic wake at 7:15 p.m.

A funeral for 81-year-old Elmer F. Taylor Sr. of Perryville will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1st at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The Rev. Kevin Fausz, CM, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
