Theiss, Marie Anna (nee Klaus)

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Marie Anna Theiss, 86, of Perryville died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

She was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Seventy-Six, Mo., daughter of August Henry and Emma Mathilda Mahnken Klaus. She and the Rev. Louis C. Theiss were married June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death April 3, 2011.

Marie was a wife, mother, school teacher and day care provider. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Women's Missionary League, Salem Senior Servants in Farrar, Mo., and volunteered at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. John and Maggie Theiss of Brooks, Alberta, Canada, David and Maxine Theiss of Farrar, the Rev. Steven and Susan Theiss of Columbia, Ill., and Joel and Beth Theiss of Raleigh, N.C.; five daughters and sons-in-law, Rhoda and the Rev. David Rempfer of Blairstown, Iowa, Selma and Richard Thole of Perryville, Ruth and the Rev. Timothy Rynearson of Brookings, S.D., Dorothy and Jeffrey Albrecht of Imperial, Mo., and Eunice and the Rev. Jose Rodriguez of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Elvira Roth of Wittenberg, Mo.; 31 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, a sister, two grandsons and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to United in Christ Lutheran School or Salem Lutheran Church.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 for 86-year-old Marie Anna Theiss of Perryville who died July 4, 2013 at Independence Care Center of Perry County, in Perryville.

She was born December 18, 1926 in Seventy-Six, the daughter of August Henry and Emma Mathilda (Mahnken) Klaus who both preceded her in death.

She married the Rev. Louis C. Theiss on June 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2011.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law: the Rev. John (Maggie) Theiss of Brooks, Alberta, Canada, David (Maxine) Theiss of Farrar, the Rev. Steven (Susan) Theiss of Columbia, Illinois and Joel (Beth) Theiss of Raleigh, North Carolina; five daughters and sons-in-law: Rhoda and (the Rev. Jose) Rodriguez of Kansas City; a sister: Elvira Roth of Wittenberg; four sisters-in-law: Grace Klaus of San Antonio, Texas, Helen Theiss of Cape Girardeau, Viola Theiss of Perryville and Caroline Theiss of Glen Ullin, North Dakota; 28 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Justin, Jeremy, Emmalynn, and Joey Rodriguez, Lucas Albrecht, Emily and Amy Theiss, Michael and Sara Rynearson, Becky (Ryan) Taylor, Kayla Thole, Samuel (Meagan) Thole, Kristina (Robert) Stell, Paul and J’Nae (Briar McCoy) Rempfer, M’Leigh (Drew) Olson, Joel (Saydi) Rempfer, Mark, Philip (Mary), Paul, Steven (Lindsay), Derek, Benjamin, Jared (Heather), Jason (Beth), Joshua (Amy), and Nathaniel (Leah) Theiss; 16 great-grandchildren, Kaygan and Karlyle Stell, Adelyn Olson, Gerhardt, Hayden, Heinrich, Leah, Elise, Kyle, Alessandra, Luke, Abigail, Grace, Owen, Nathaniel and Naomi Theiss and five expected great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, Felicity (Darren) Dykstra, Seadon (Jessaca Laborte) Rosekat, Miranda (Russell) Pammenter; six step-great-grandchildren, Jack and Noah Dykstra, Hush and Shai Rosekat, Rowen and Tiernan Pammenter

She was also preceded in death by two brothers; one sister; two grandsons, Christopher Rempfer and T.J. Rodriguez and one granddaughter, Jessica Theiss.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 8 and 6:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
