Thompson, Pearl C.

Pearl C. Thompson, 81, of Jackson died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Neely's Landing, son of Denver and Early Craft Thompson. He and Dora Dowling were married Oct. 25, 1947.

Thompson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He attended First General Baptist Church in Jackson, and was a member of the Excelsior Masonic Lodge of Jackson, and the Scottish Rite Shriners of Cape Girardeau.

Thompson farmed and owned and operated Thompson Excavating Co. in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glenda Fowler of St. Louis, Carol Simmons of Jackson; three sons, Gary Thompson of Troy, Mo., Gerald Thompson of Oak Ridge, Mike Thompson of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Denzil Thompson of Jackson; two sisters, Hazel Clippard and Blanche Johnson of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with military honors.
