PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Ralph Melvin Thompson, 83, of Perryville died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at his home.

He was born March 8, 1925, in Perry County, son of Leo and Ruth Harris Thompson. He and Alma Johnson were married Jan. 1, 1943. She died Aug. 3, 2006.

Thompson was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a farmer. He was a member of Whitewater Christian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Thompson, Diana Lukefahr and Donna Hudson, all of Perryville; six sons, David, Clark, Jim, Danny and Lonnie Thompson, all of Perryville, Stanley Thompson of Oklahoma; two sisters, Leona Johnson of Denison, Texas, Ruth Ann Dodds of Perryville; two brothers, Leonard Thompson of Forreston, Texas, Lester Thompson of Perryville; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitewater Christian Cemetery, with the Rev. Melvin Weiss officiating. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Air Force.

Young and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
