Thomure, Paul J. "Tobe"

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Paul J. "Tobe" Thomure, 81, of Perryville died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922, at St. Mary, Mo., son of Tobias Jerome and Eleanor Caldwell Thomure. He and Madeline R. Picou were married Jan. 21, 1941, in St. Louis. She died Sept. 25, 2002.

Thomure had been a steel worker. He was a member of Teamsters Local and Eagles Aerie.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Stewart of St. Charles, Mo.; a son, Robert Thomure of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and after 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo. The Rev. Felipe Martinez will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at St. Mary, with military honors by American Legion Post 133.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 6, 2003 for 81-year-old Paul J. (Tobe) Thomure who died Tuesday, June 3 at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center.

He was born in Jan. 21, 1922 in St. Mary, the son of the late Tobia Jerome Thomure and Eleanor Caldwell.

He was married to Madeline R. (Picou) Thomure on Jan. 21, 1941. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 2002.

One daughter, Mary K. Stewart, survives in St. Charles, and one son, Robert B. Thomure, survives in St. Louis.

Eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Thomure worked in the steel industry as a coreman. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5 at the Miller Family Funeral Home. Visitation also on Friday, June 6 from 6:30-9:30 a.m.

Funeral Mass for Paul J. (Tobe) Thomure will be held Friday, June 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer. Rev. Felipe Martinez C.M. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Mary with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133.
