Trankler, Agnes (nee VanderMierden)

ORAN, Mo. -- Agnes Trankler, 94, of Oran passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 1, 1918, in Glennon, Mo., to Henry and Sophie Laurentius VanderMierden. She and Chris Trankler were married June 7, 1939. He preceded her in death April 4, 2002.

Agnes was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, and St. Ann Sodality.

Survivors include eight sons, Henry (Phyllis) Trankler of Oran, Theodore "Tee" (Carol) Trankler of Jackson, Edwin (Shirley) Trankler of Arnold, Mo., James (Rita) Trankler of Jackson, Charles (Sondra) Trankler of Oran, George (Carla) Trankler of Chaffee, Frank (Debbie) Trankler of Jackson and David Trankler of Chaffee; two daughters, Wilma Seyer of Chaffee and Barbara Trankler of Cape Girardeau; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; 15 great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ralph Seyer; two grandsons, Vernon Seyer and Curtis Trankler; a great-grandson, Hayden Trankler-Melton; a brother, Martin VanderMierden; two sisters, Dorothy Trankler and Irene Beel; and three half sisters, Mary Beussink, Rachel Seyer and Ann Worley.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The parish rosary will be at 7 p.m., followed by Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:15 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Guardian Angel Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as celebrant. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery in Oran.

The family requests donations be made to the charity of choice or Masses.
