Turner, Donald

Donald Turner, 67, of Jackson, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home.

He was born May 30, 1945, in Advance, MO, son of Elva and Maude Gallop Turner. He and Shirley Fulbright were married September 1, 1967. She passed away September 21, 1996. On May 30, 1997 he married Sharon Hines.

After attending Jackson High School, Don worked on the family farm before serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he worked for the former Riverside Lumber Company, former Kasten Building Center, and the former Lenco, all in Jackson. He then worked for Pocahontas Lumber Company in Jackson from 1994 until his retirement in 2007. Don coached little league baseball in his younger years and enjoyed playing slow pitch softball in Jackson. After his retirement, he took delight in reading Western Novels. He was a member of Liberty Congregational Methodist Church near Marquand, MO.

Loving survivors include; a son, Kenny (Tory) Turner of Marble Hill, MO; a daughter, Pam (Darrell) Shrum of Patton, MO, a step-son, David (Nicky) Hines of Jackson; a step-daughter, Leigh Ann (Mike) Green of Sedgewickville; a brother, Paul Turner of Farmington, MO; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Thursday, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home with the Revs. Jerry Sander and Jimmie Fulbright officiating.

Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery near Marquand, MO in Bollinger County, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Liberty Congregational Methodist Church or Cemetery.
