Wayne Unterreiner, 70 , Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, August 12, 2011 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Unterreiner was born October 18, 1940 in Perryville, Mo., the son of Edmund Henry and Gertrude (McLain) Unterreiner. He married Anna (Hoehn) Unterreiner on May 8, 1971; she survives of the home. Wayne worked for TWA where he retired in 1997. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. He also served in the American Legion Honor Guard. He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two sisters, Glenda Unterreiner and Patsy Rhyne; and one brother, Richard Unterreiner. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Sarah Altenhofen and her husband, Nathan of Kansas City, Mo., and Patricia Soutter and her husband, Shane of Excelsior Springs, Mo; one son, Anthony Unterreiner of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; five brothers, Michael Unterreiner of Saint Charles, Mo., Edmund Unterreiner Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Saint Peters, Mo., Warren Unterreiner and his wife, Zofia of Liberty, Mo., Donald Unterreiner of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Glennon Unterreiner of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Barbara Wright of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary Moore and her husband, Jerry of St. Louis, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Unterreiner of St. Louis, Mo.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16 at 11 a.m. at the St. Ann Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Honor Guard, Excelsior Springs, Mo.
