Vinyard, Nora Marie (nee Niswonger)

Nora Marie Vinyard, 89, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Kurreville, Mo., daughter of Frank and Ivy Dell Statler Niswonger. She and Samuel Charles Vinyard were married July 18, 1942, in St. Louis. He passed away May 7, 2011.

Marie was a graduate of Jackson High School. During World War II, while Sam was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, Marie worked at an airplane manufacturing plant in St. Louis. In 1955, she and Sam moved to Phoenix. They returned to Jackson in 1986. Marie and Sam were members of First Baptist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two sons, Wayne (Nina) Vinyard of Glenwood, Wash., and Max (Gayle) Vinyard of Gilroy, Calif.; a daughter, Mary (David) Wright of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandsons, Bob, Stephen, Andrew and Jonathan Vinyard and Tom Wright; three granddaughters, Joy Roberts, Ivy Ferrer and Katy Wright; five great-grandsons, Sterling and Brandon Roberts, Skylar and Ryan Vinyard and Wesley Vinyard; a great-granddaughter, Carrie Beals; a brother, Don (Judy) Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; a nephew, Harry Skinner; a niece, Terri Lee Phillips; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert VanderVeen; two brothers, Harold and Joe Niswonger; and four sisters, Violet Skinner, Della Clippard, Maude Wessel and Lurena Maintz.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lucas Clabough officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Jackson.
