Wadlington, Hazel Nadine (nee Bollinger)

Hazel Nadine Wadlington, 98, of Scott City went to be with the Heavenly Father on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016. She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Bell City, Missouri, daughter of Everett and Lula Patterson Bollinger. She married Robert Winfred Wadlington on July 1, 1938, in Fornfelt, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 2, 1999.

Hazel worked at Ely Walker Factory in Scott City as a seamstress and also at Singers in Cape Girardeau. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City.

Hazel dedicated her life to helping others and loved deeply. Her family was her highest priority. She put them above all others. One of the many things she did for her family was sew. She was a fabulous seamstress. She made many dresses, pants, suits and costumes for her son, daughter, daughter-in- law, grandchildren and many others. She even had made gorgeous wedding gowns, complete with beading. There were so many things she loved to do for her loved ones. Some of those things were "doctoring," ironing, peeling grapes, cooking, working puzzles, playing cards -- anything that would bring a smile to a loved one.

Survivors include a son, Robert "Pete" (Diana) Wadlington of Scott City; seven grandchildren, Tim Bain, Todd (Joanna) Shaw, Jill (David) Spriggs, Stephanie (Mark) Anderson, Nicole (Mike) Conner, Christi (Jason) Bachew and Shana (Jeff) Frick; 19 great-grandchildren, Justin (Samantha) Anderson, Steven (Joselyn) Anderson, Taylor (Matt) Jackson, Emily, Alexis and Austin Spriggs, Anya, Phillip and Josiah Bachew, Clayson Anderson, Mason Koeberl, Camden and Kalen Conner, Keagen and Gavin Winkler, Lilly and Maya Shaw, and Tatum and Jacoby Frick; two great-great grandchildren, Mason and Avery; a sister-in-law, Jewel Fowler of Scott City; three nieces, Betty, Nadine and Becky; and two nephews, Mike and Dale.

Hazel also was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Donna Kay Wadlington and Shirley Jean Wadlington-Shaw; five brothers, Harry C., Burl, Ralf, Leonard and Buster; and a sister, Pearl Bollinger.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
