Walker, Marie Ellen (nee Overbeck)
Marie Ellen Walker, 89, of Jackson died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Monticello House in Jackson, after a short stay.
She was born April 28, 1922, in Gordonville, to Emil Christian and Ida Marie Deneke Overbeck. She and Marshall A. Walker were married June 30, 1951. He died Aug. 24, 2006.
Marie was a fancy stitcher 44 years at International Shoe Co. in Jackson, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Millersville United Methodist Church, a Gold Star member of UMW, former Sunday school teacher, member of Daisy Homemakers Club, and 56-year member and assistant sergeant-at-arms of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 Auxiliary.
Marie loved to quilt and she enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Williams of Jackson; nieces and nephews, Rhonda Sievers, Karen Lorenz, Steve Brotherton, Rodney Sievers, Jim Walker, Judy Walker, all of Jackson, Larry Walker of Cape Girardeau, Jim Overbeck of Neshkoro, Wis., Debby Wagner of Berlin, Wis., and Joe Walker of Potosi, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Overbeck; a sister, Esther Davenport; and a nephew, Mike Brotherton.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice.
