Walter, Lorene E. (nee Lincoln)
Lorene E. Walter, 85, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at her home in Jackson.
One of 18 children, Lorene was born May 15, 1928, in Scopus, Mo., to Miles O. and Ruth A. Long Lincoln. She and Calvin G. Walter were married June 13, 1947, in Leachville, Ark. They had been married 57 years when Calvin passed away October 1, 2004.
Lorene was a homemaker and did private in-home health care many years for neighbors, friends, and family. She also helped her daughter Trisha at the former Trisha’s Bed and Breakfast in Jackson. Lorene and Calvin were charter members of Westside Church of Christ in Jackson where Calvin was a bi-vocational minister. Lorene was always instrumental in Calvin’s ministry which spanned 28 years at the church. He served during it’s construction until shortly before he passed away.
Lorene loved to study the Bible. She was also an avid gardener, reader, and thoroughly enjoyed going to garage sales. She took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Patricia “Trish” (Gustav) Wischmann of Jackson, Judy Walter of Florissant, Mo.; a brother, Ken (Lynn) Lincoln of Sedgewickville; three grandsons, Richard (Linda) Wischmann of O’Fallon, Mo., Derek (Kristen) Wischmann of Ballwin, Mo., Ashley (Melissa) Wischmann of Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Gus, Maggie, Brent, Brody, and Kylie.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Natasha Wischmann; nine brothers; and seven sisters.
Visitation is Sunday, July 28, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service is Monday, July 29, 2013, at 11 AM, at the funeral home, with Kelly Francis officiating.
Interment will follow at Cook Cemetery in Scopus.
