Webb, Velma Mae Johnson (nee Harris)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Velma Mae Webb, 88, of Marble Hill passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 4, 1925, at Lutesville, Missouri, to Joseph Edward and Delphia Louise Bollinger Harris. She was married to Collin Johnson in 1944, who preceded her in death. She then married Doyle Edward Webb in 1951. He passed away in 1981.

Mae was a truck driver many years with her husband Doyle, and was proud of this. She would tell story after story and sometimes over and over to us and it was always interesting. Also known as Aunt Mae to so many, she was a woman no one would forget.

Survivors include a son, Collin Edwin Johnson and wife Linda of Wappapello, Missouri; two daughters, Ellie Johnson Cook of Patton, Missouri, and Diana Cook and husband Eddie of Marble Hill; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and two on the way. Her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews were always proud of Aunt Mae! She was also "Granny" to so many friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Martin; a son, Dodgie Webb; a grandson, Lil Dodgie; a great-grandson, Austin; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Faries and Diana Cook officiating. Interment will be in Leslie Ridge Cemetery near Marble Hill.
