Weinrich, Vernon O.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 for 76-year-old Vernon O. Weinrich of Perryville, who died Saturday, April 18, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Longtown, a son of the Oscar F. and Nora S. Hopfer Weinrich who both preceded him in death.

He married Kathleen Ann Herschbach on May 27, 1956. She survives.

He is also survived by a son, Kenneth (Carol) Weinrich of Jackson; two daughters, Vicki (Gene) King of Poplar Bluff and Sandra (Jerry) Bert of Perryville; a sister, Verna Hemmann of Longtown; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Buchheit, Bridgette Baer, Abigail Weinrich, Bryan, Lauren and Brandon Bert; and seven great-grandchildren.

He worked for 45 years as a school bus driver for Meyer Bus Lines in Perryville and had been a farmer.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville, American Legion Post No. 133 and, VFW Post No. 4282 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday, April 20th and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Chapel. There will be an American Legion wake at 7 p.m. Monday.

A funeral for 76-year-old Vernon Weinrich will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas Handrick will officiate.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Longtown, with military graveside honors provided by VFW Post No. 4282 and Missouri Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Longtown or Immanuel Lutheran School in Perryville.
