Charles Franklin "Pete" Welker, 81, of Marble Hill died April 20, 2015, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Born on May 12, 1933, near Lutesville, Mo., he was the son of Charley Miles and Nancy Lydabelle Long Welker.

On May 2, 1975, he married Bessie Jane James. She survives. He worked most of his life as a sawyer for saw mills and pallet mills. He had dedicated his life to Jesus and ministered several churches.

He is survived by his wife; three sons: Leon Welker of Paducah, Ky, Donald Welker of Dexter, Mo., and Rick Welker of Fulton, Mo.; five daughters: Kathy Sullivan of Greenville, Mo., Catherine Ludwig, Eyvon Cook, Juliette Smith, and Elizabeth Cook, all of Marble Hill, Mo.; three stepsons: David Evans of St. Louis, Mo., Robert Evans of Marble Hill, and James Evans of Gardenville, Nev; two stepdaughters: Rebecca Garland and Tamrah Bass, both of Marble Hill; a sister, Olive Trentham of Marble Hill; 38 grandchildren and 48 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, two stepchildren, six brothers, and three sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Randy Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery near Bessville.
