Welker, Gertrude Mary (nee Buchheit)

A funeral will be held Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004 for 92-year-old Gertrude M. Welker of Perryville who died Sunday, September 19th at the Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born February 20th, 1912 in Perry County, the daughter of Henry Buchheit and Theresa Baer Buchheit who both preceded her in death.

She married Ludwig W. Welker on November 19th, 1935 at Apple Creek. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Harold and Maureen Welker of Perryville and Raymond and Margie Welker of Eureka; five daughters and four sons in law, Clarita and Jim Pingel of Manchester, Laverne and Carl Henneke of Perryville, Marie Welker of Chesterfield, Barbara and Lawrence Modde of St. Charles and Linda and Walter Biri of Jackson; five sisters, Philomena, Toye of Boston, Massachusetts; Laura Buerck and Rose Buerck, both of St. Louis; Jean Zoellner and Mary Ann Rellergert, both of Perryville; three brothers, August Buchheit of Perryville, Edgar Buchheit of Jackson and Urban Buchheit of St. Louis; 22 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

A sister, Anna Welker; two brothers, Anton Buchheit and Louie Buchheit, one grandchild and three great grandchildren also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a cook at Perry County Memorial Hospital and at St. Mary's Seminary.

She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 21st and 6:30-8:50 a.m. Wednesday, September 22nd at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.

Parish prayers with the Daughters of Isabella will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 92-year-old Gertrude M. Welker of Perryville will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 22nd at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The Revs. Bradley Modde and Kevin P. Fausz will concelebrate the mass.

Memorials may be made to masses or to a charity of choice.
