Whitener, Carl Dean

Carl Dean Whitener, 69, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his residence.

He was born July 15, 1943, in Glen Allen, son of Rafe and Bertie Cook Whitener. He and Roberta Jane Crites were married March 29, 1970. She survives.

Carl was the owner and operator and Whitener’s Auto Repair for 43 years. He was a member of Southeast Missouri Modelers Association. He loved boating and fishing.

In addition to his loving wife, survivors include: a daughter, Kristi (Kenny) Heise of Cape Girardeau; a son, James Lee Whitener of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Nina (Adam) Kirchhoff, EmmaLee Heise and Jacob Heise, all of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Velda Smith of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a twin sister.

Friends may call Monday, May 27, 2013 from 10 AM – 1 PM at McCombs Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Jackson. A Graveside service will be held Monday, May 27, 2013 at 1:30 PM at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to American Cancer Association, Southeast Hospice, or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary.
