Whitener, Lois Maxine (nee Tripp)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Lois Maxine Whitener, 69, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1945, daughter of Everett Franklin and Maxine Mame Myers Tripp. She and John Lynn Whitener were married Dec. 25, 1967.

Lois owned and operated J.W. Chevrolet along with her husband, John, for 38 years. She loved to show horses and was a professional horse trainer in numerous countries, a member of Appaloosa Horse Club, Charolaise Cattle Association and a lifelong member of Marquand First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, John of Marble Hill; a brother-in-law, Terry Conrad of Patton, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Reagan of Marble Hill and Patsy Ivy of Appleton, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Conrad.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elmo Parker officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Patton Cemetery Fund.
